Quick Facts About the Fort Churchill Byway Scenic Drive

  • Trip Length : 16 miles, one-way. The route follows the Ft. Churchill Road, which loosely follows the Carson River.
  • Road Type - The road is gravel and can be bumpy and rough in spots.
  • RV's / Campers? - Yes.
  • Services Available - Gas and supplies can be found in Virginia City, Carson City and Dayton.
  • General Location - Western Nevada, thirteen miles to the east of Carson City on US Highway 50, and right outside the town of Dayton.
  • Camping - There is no dedicated campgrounds along the scenic drive. However, the route does pass through BLM lands for much of its length, allowing for primitive camping.
