Located twenty miles from Elko at the base of the Ruby Mountains, Lamoille has a beautiful location. The snow-covered mountains rise steeply up from the sprawling Lamoille Valley, providing a very scenic setting.

Lamoille also has a superb location for outdoor pursuits. The Lamoille Canyon Scenic Drive, which leads deep into the Ruby Mountains, is not just a beautiful drive but also leads to numerous trailheads that head out into the wilderness area of the Ruby Mountains.

The downtown area of Lamoille is tiny, and hides the fact that Lamoille actually has a population of over 14,000 people. All the population growth in Lamoille is due to its scenic location and the growth in nearby Elko – most people who live in Lamoille take the short commute “over the pass” to Elko.

The downtown area of Lamoille has virtually no services at all. However, along the highway to Elko there’s plenty of places for the traveler to grab gas and other supplies. For those staying overnight in Lamoille, there is two small hotels in the downtown area of Lamoille. Better lodging options are found in Elko, which has over a dozen hotels.
